"I've Got the World on a String" is a song that was originally released as one of Frank Sinatra's singles under Capitol Records. The single was released in 1953.

The first album to use this song was the 1956 compilation album, This Is Sinatra!. Sinatra, by himself never, rerecorded the song, but it was still re-released on several Sinatra concerts and compilations that follow. Sinatra, however, did rerecord this song with Liza Minnelli for his 1993 Capitol album, Duets.

Lyrics Edit

I've got the world on a string
I'm sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life - I'm in love

I've got a song that I sing
I can make the rain go
Any time I move my finger
Lucky me, can't you see - I'm in love

Life is a beautiful thing
As long as I hold the string
I'd be a silly so-and-so
If I should ever let it go

I've got the world on a string
I'm sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world, what a life - I'm in love

Life is a beautiful thing
As long as I hold the string
I'd be a silly so-and-so
If I should ever let it go

I've got the world on a string
I'm sitting on a rainbow
Got the string around my finger
What a world,
Man, this is the life
Hey now, I'm so in love
